Application Note 1389 Setting Pre-Emphasis Level for DS40MB200 Dual 4Gb/s Mux/Buffer

چکیده

The DS40MB200 is a dual 2:1 multiplexer and 1:2 fan-out repeater designed to support redundancy and extending copper backplane to data rates up to 4 Gb/s. With input equalization and output pre-emphasis, the DS40MB200 is capable of compensating attenuation distortion and reducing deterministic jitter caused by bandwidth-limited transmission lines. This application note outlines the methods to set the proper amount of equalization to achieve optimum jitter performance. Each output driver of the DS40MB200 has pre-emphasis for compensating the transmission loss disparity of the transmission medium that it is driving. Figure 1 shows the preemphasized waveforms before and after a transmission medium. Whenever there is a transition of logic state, the driver sends the first data bit with its full amplitude. In anticipation of lower transmission loss from the transmission medium, the driver sends the subsequent data bits of the same logic state with reduced amplitude. Effectively, the driver conditions the output signal amplitude such that the lower and higher frequency pulses reach approximately the same amplitude at the receiving end of the transmission medium.

26-4 18Gb/s Optical IO: VCSEL Driver and TIA in 90nm CMOS

An 18Gb/s optical data rate is achieved with a commercial GaAs VCSEL by applying rising and falling edge preemphasis with a 90nm CMOS driver. The pre-emphasis pulse shape can be digitally adjusted with time resolution less than one bit period. The TIA receiver has cross-coupled cascodes to increase the amplifier gain/bandwidth and operates at 12.5Gb/s to 18Gb/s depending on the input capacitanc...

M1, M2, ..., Mk/G1, G2,..., Gk/l/N Queue with Buffer Division and Push-Out Schemes for ATM Networks (RESEARCH NOTE)

In this paper, loss probabilities and steady state probabilities of data packets for an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) network are investigated under the buffer division and push-out schemes. Data packets are classified in classes k which arrive in Poisson fashion to the service facility and are served with general service rate under buffer division scheme, finite buffer space N is divided in...

A 4Gb/s CMOS fully-differential analog dual delay-locked loop clock/data recovery circuit

A 4Gb/s power and area efficient clock/data recovery (CDR) circuit is proposed. Fully-differential design is employed to reject any common mode noises and to significantly reduce power/ground bounce. An analog dual delay-locked loop (DLL) architecture continuously aligns the clock sampling edge to the center of incoming data eye-opening. A self-correcting function prevents the phase capture ran...

Dual DIMM DDR2 and DDR3 SDRAM Interface Design Guidelines

This application note describes guidelines for implementing dual unbuffered DIMM DDR2 and DDR3 SDRAM interfaces. This application note discusses the impact on signal integrity of the data signal with the following conditions in a dual-DIMM configuration: ■ Populating just one slot versus populating both slots ■ Populating slot 1 versus slot 2 when only one DIMM is used ■ On-die termination (ODT...

Effects of Foliage Removal and Using Different Nitrogen Rates on Remobilization of Pre-anthesis Assimilates to the Grain in a Dual-purpose (Forage and Grain) Barley

In order to study the source limitation and contribution of pre-anthesis assimilates to grain in dual-purpose (forage and grain) barley, a field experiment was carried out in Iran, Ahvaz region. The experimental design was split plot in randomized complete block with three replications. Application rates of nitrogen at four levels (60, 120, 180 and 220 kg.ha-1 N) were as main plots, while sub p...
